A FAMILY claimed that shredded duck pancakes bought from the Stroud branch of Iceland contained what looked like dead worms.
After an investigation, Iceland found that there were no worms in the duck meat.
A spokesman from Iceland said: "This product did not come up to our normal high standards and we have apologised unreservedly to our customer for that.
"However, there were categorically no worms in the duck meat.
"The customer unfortunately discovered duck veins which are naturally present in the meat, but should have been detected and removed during the production process.
"Our supplier has immediately strengthened its controls by conducting additional checks during the production process to prevent any recurrence.
"Our customer Mrs Matlala has received compensation and we believe she is happy with how Iceland handled her complaint."
