  • Stonehouse Friendly Circle are having a coffee morning this Saturday April 30 in the Community Centre. Come and join us from 9.30. There will be a tombola, cake stall and good company.
  • Savvy Seniors Cinema Club meets every Monday at 11am at the Vue Cinema in Stroud. Next Monday May 2 - Youth. A retired orchestra conductor is on holiday with his daughter and his film director best friend in the Alps when he receives an invitation from Queen Elizabeth II to perform for Prince Phillip’s birthday. Use your bus pass to travel into Stroud and for just £3.29 you’ll enjoy good company a film and a cuppa and a biscuit. More information needed?   • Stonehouse Wheelers is a family friendly Cycling Club and always welcomes new cyclists. If you are new to cycling why not get in touch with the Secretary Roy Jones on 01453 298759. They organise a range of rides, on Sunday afternoons, to cater for the ambitious and the not-so ambitious.   • Stonehouse Gardening Club next meet on Wednesday May 4 at 7.30pm in the Community Centre. We will be joined by Paul Green of Greens Leaves Nurseries Newent who will talk about ‘It’s not all about Flowers’. New to gardening? Then come and join us.
  • Stonhouse Methodist Church will be holding a coffee, cake and croissant morning in the Douglas Morley Hall on Saturday May 7 from 10am with a theme of twinning towns with France – especially Leonard Stanley and Dozule. Just £2 to include refreshments. Everyone welcome.
  • Stonehouse History Group meet for their AGM on Wednesday May 11 at 7.30pm in the Town Hall. Philip Wells will give a talk on the Lyddiatt Organ and also after the successful ‘Show and Tell’ we are asking members to bring along an item which they can talk about. Our meetings are always open to non-members so why not come along and find out about your local History Group.
  • Stonehouse Gardening Club. We will be having our annual ‘Stall on the Green’ in Stonehouse on Saturday, May 14 from 9am. We will be selling plants and gardening boos and members will also be on hand to give advice and gardening tips.

  • Slow Yoga on Wednesdays from 9.45–11am in Leonard Stanley. For information about these classes, aimed at keeping older people supple contact John on 01453 791848.
  • Seaman’s Hats. Thank you everybody for the hats. Please do keep knitting they are always needed.
  • Stonehouse Library Baby Bounce and Rhyme and Bookstart Bear sessions are back. Every Wednesday at 10.30–11am during school term time. Stonehouse library is there for everyone. There is a Home Library Service and the building is also available as a venue for meetings. Pop in or call Lucy on 01453 823176.
  • The Citizens Advice Bureau has an advice worker available in the town hall every Thursday from 10am to 1pm. No need for an appointment – just drop in. An advice worker is also available in the APT community shop on the Park Estate on Thursday afternoons from 1pm.
  • Short Mat Bowling Club at the Douglas Morley Hall is open to all interested bowls players. They meet every Tuesday and Friday between 2 and 4.30pm. Potential new members of all ages are very welcome to come along and give it a go free of charge for the first two sessions. Equipment will be provided but flat soled shoes must be worn.   • Singing for the Brain. This is by the Alzheimer’s Society and sessions are held at Stonehouse community centre on Tuesday afternoons.
