ONE of Stroud District Council’s oldest tenants has celebrated her 101st birthday.
Ivy Cook, born in Water Lane, Selsley in 1915 has lived at Archway Gardens sheltered scheme in Paganhill since 1994.
Birthday celebrations started last Monday (May 23) with a party at the weekly Archway Gardens coffee morning.
Ivy did her regular weekly shop at Tesco in Stroud on her birthday on Friday, May 27, where she was presented with a bouquet of flowers by the manager who waived her bill.
Council staff Elaine Booth and Nick Richardson visited Ivy with gifts of flowers and chocolate, and well wishers included her childhood friend Eadie, who celebrates her 101st birthday in July this year.
Ivy’s week ended with one of her favourite hobbies - a game of bingo in Gloucester with her daughter, aged 75.
Work hard and enjoy life is Ivy’s advice.
