ONE of the largest picnic gatherings in Gloucestershire will be held in Stonehouse to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.

Families and visitors are invited to the Big Picnic Lunch on Sunday, June 12, from 12pm to 3pm on Oldends Lane playing field.

Organisers at Stonehouse Town Council are hoping the picnic will be the biggest gathering in the county, with games, stalls, refreshments and children’s activities taking place.

Families are welcome to hold a stall at the event, and there will be games including football and rounders for all to enjoy.

Residents are also encouraged to join in with the royal party by holding street parties on the day.

The event is being organised as part of The Big Lunch initiative, which was set up by the Eden Project in 2009.

The aim is to get as many people across the UK to have lunch with their neighbours once a year.

This year The Big Lunch is being organised to coincide with Her Majesty’s official birthday on Saturday, June 11.

If you would like a free stall (bring your own stall/table) or would like to provide free entertainment at the event contact deputyclerk@stonehousetowncouncil.com.

Bring your own food, blankets and games. No BBQs permitted.
