VOLUNTEERS are hard at work as Stonehouse aims to win a gold award in the Heart of England in Bloom awards.
Businesses across the town have supported the bid, with hanging baskets and lamp post displays from the Horsetrough roundabout to the end of Gloucester Road.
Floral displays, funded by the town council, are also on display along the High Street ahead of judging day on July 26.
Volunteers have also been hard at work on areas around the town including new planting in the High Street, the Rest Garden, and Station Master’s Garden.
Great Western Railway have also agreed to fund plants for the station platform plants.
With reduced sponsorship for barrier baskets this year it was only possible for two to be installed by the Oldends Lane roundabout but these are providing a beautiful display of colour.
More volunteer help is always welcome, whether it be with helping with litter picking, removing weeds on the judges’ route or helping with new planting. Please contact Liz Lawrence via email deputyclerk@ stonehousetowncouncil.com.
