WHEN Julia Mundell went out for her weekly training cycle ride, the last person she expected to encounter was actor Jude Law.
The 56-year-old was just returning to her home in Painswick when she spotted the Sherlock Holmes star in Bisley Street.
For Julia, who is taking part in a sponsored cycle ride in aid of Longfield, it was too good of an opportunity to miss.
“I did apologise to him and explain that ill-fitting cycling lycra is not my usual attire,” said Julia, who is community and events manager at the hospice charity.
“He was so charming and listened to me as I explained that Longfield supports patients and their family at a desperate time of their lives.”
The actor agreed to support Julia’s 95-mile Lap the Lough ride, around Lough Neagh, the largest lake in Ireland and Britain. The ride is on August 28.
“I have made a note to self not to leave home without makeup again – you just never know who you will bump into in Painswick,” said Julia.
“I hope Jude found our village welcoming – we both agreed it was a special place. Jude and his friend were delightful. Thank you so much Jude for being so kind.”
Every year Longfield supports 800 people with life-limiting conditions and their families. All of their support is provided free of charge.
