BRIMSCOMBE C of E Primary School has greeted a number of new faces this September.

In addition to the 12 new reception pupils, the primary school welcomed a brand new head teacher.

Mr Joe Roberts joins the small school with more than 15 years’ experience in teaching.

He has moved from Rowanfield Juniors in Cheltenham and was attracted to the school because of its reputation for having an inclusive ethos and strong sense of community.

Brimscombe has recently also had a very positive Ofsted inspection where it was considered good overall with pupils’ personal development, behaviour and welfare judged to be outstanding.

“From day one staff, parents and pupils have made me feel welcome,” said Mr Roberts.

“I felt at home straight away and I don’t think I will tire of the beautiful setting the school is fortunate to have.

“I am looking forward to building on the school’s recent successes and working with the tight knit team to develop a vibrant curriculum that nurtures talent and values individuality.”

Part of his team of teachers helping to deliver this vision is Miss Abi Morris, who also joined the school in September after graduating from The University of Gloucestershire.

Responsible for children in year 1 and 2 she is looking forward to developing a love for learning with her class, in particular making use of Brimscombe’s surroundings for fun outdoor learning opportunities.

Tucked away on the side of Brimscombe Hill, Brimscombe School is home to just under one hundred pupils and a settled team of dedicated and talented teachers and support staff.
