A NUMBER of roads in and around Stroud remain closed or under maintenance this morning (Thursday).

The worst area of congestion again is located around Cainscross Road by Marling and Stroud High Schools.

Temporary traffic lights along the busy road have resulted in gridlock every morning this week.

This has caused long delays for people travelling into Stroud and has left tailbacks from as far as Merrywalks roundabout back to the end of Westward Road in Cainscross.

Much of Paganhill Lane and Dudrbridge Road have also been affected again.

In other places, Thrupp Lane has been closed both ways today due to resurfacing work on the A419 London Road.

Work is scheduled to continue until Friday October 28.

Temporary traffic lights and bridge maintenance work continues on the A46 Stroud Road both ways near the junction of Jenkin's Lane and King's Mill Lane.

This work hasn’t been causing too much hassle for commuters over the last few days.

The lights are due to be in place until October 25.

Over in Minchinhampton further temporary traffic lights have been set up on Cirencester Road both ways at Butt Street.

This work started on Tuesday and is scheduled to finish up later today.

Over towards Pitchcombe, work is continuing to fix gas mains on Wick Street.

Temporary traffic lights have been set up both ways at Painswick Old Road and Wades Lane and work will continue right through until Tuesday November 1.

Finally in Stonehouse, temporary lights are in place on Bristol Road at the roundabout for Oldends Lane.

Traffic is being affected both ways due to sewer works between A419 Bristol Road and B4008 Gloucester Road.

Work will continue until Sunday, October 30.
