DESIGNS for Chalford Hill Primary’s new classrooms are being placed on public display, their current setup has two temporary classrooms, catering for 61 pupils.

Gloucestershire County Council are working alongside the school to install the new designs which include two new classrooms, a new kitchen and a replacement playground on the opposite side of the road in Chalford Hill.

The public consultation is Monday, December 5, between 2.45pm and 7pm at the school, the governors of the school, architect and county council staff will be there to answer questions.

Head teacher, Corinne Martin, said: "The school is working closely with GCC to make much needed improvements to our premises, so that our children can learn in an inspiring and stimulating environment that is fit for purpose.

“We look forward to welcoming everyone to the public consultation next Monday."

Currently 30 year five pupils and 31 year six pupils occupy temporary classrooms, if approved the building for the permanent buildings would start in May/June next year, with completion around February 2018.

The existing kitchen is too small and does not allow the school the potential to offer a cooked lunch in line with the government’s free meal and nutritional objectives.

Wheelchair access features in the new facilities, which include a disabled toilet.

When Heath Avery Architect's initial designs were shown in June this year, the county council design panel decided they were fundamentally flawed, these plans hope to improve on those issues.

If you are unable to come to the event, the plans will remain in the school entrance foyer until early January 2017.
