TO mark National Pothole Day, the SNJ is asking readers to submit details and photos about potholes in their area.

Potholes that go un-fixed often cause damage to vehicles and cause frustration for residents who must manoeuvre around the obstacles in their neighbourhoods on a daily basis.

The annual event is organised by Street Repairs who aim to launch a national fault reporting system and to report betwen local authorities and communities.

They said: "A small pothole can be quickly and inexpensively repaired.

"The same pothole, if left over the winter, will grow in size through repeated freezing and thawing of the water accumulating in it.

"After just a few months, the pothole will become a dangerous hazard for motorists, cyclists, motorcyclists and other road users risking damage to both property and residents."
