  • Stonehouse WI meet Wednesday, February 15 at 7.30pm in the Community Centre. Paul Denney from Snow Business will be joining us to talk about this world leading company and how they create winter effects so his behind the scenes talk should be fascinating. Non-members are always welcome so do come along, enjoy the talk and find out what the WI is all about. It’s not all Jam and Jerusalem.
  • Worried about bank closures in Stonehouse? Then turn to the Post Office, now located in the Co-op. You can still do your day to day banking with the PO – you can make cash withdrawals with your bank card, make balance enquiries, make cash deposits and using a paying in slip make cheque deposits.
  • Stonehouse Methodist Church Join us for a Pancake and Coffee this Saturday February 18 from 10am to noon at the Douglas Morley Hall Elm Road. Pancakes will have a choice of fillings (2.50 each) to include refreshments. Everyone welcome to this fund raising event.
  • Cotswold AONB Warden Led Walks. If you fancy a walk this Sunday, February 19 come and join the group at Sherston High Street to walk to Shipston Moyne and Westonbirt.   • Savvy Seniors – Thursday February ‘A United Kingdom’ at 1pm. ‘The Accountant’: Prince Seretse Khams of Botswana causes an international stir when he marries a white woman from London in the late 1940s.   • Keen Photographers wanted. Could you contribute to a new community project – ‘Stonehouse in Pictures?   • Stonehouse in Bloom are holding Table Top Sales in the Town Hall every Saturday from February 25 10am-2pm. Tables can be booked through the Town Hall. First come first served.
  • Maidenhill Joint Use Centre is one of Stonehouse’s best kept secrets. It has a fully equipped Gym Sports and Dance Centre and an excellent range of facilities.   • Parkrun Stonehouse now has its own Parkrun which takes place every Saturday at 9am on the football field, Oldend Lane. It is very well organised and it is there for everyone – there is no charge, just turn up and run or walk possibly with a dog. Great community event. Parkrun is also looking for volunteers so if you would like to join in by helping either just go along on a Saturday or contact John on 07964 556240.
  • Stonehouse Wheelers is the cycling club which always goes out – whatever the weather. For December to February the Wednesday run will start at 1.15pm outside the Globe Inn, Stonehouse. The Wednesday ride is an ‘easy’ bike ride of up to just 18 miles – so all cyclists welcome. But please – lights and mudguards are essential in these winter times.   • Sports facilities on the Laburnum Field. Have you seen the Outdoor Table Tennis tables by the Community Centre? Alongside the outdoor gym equipment and Boules area are two tables. Who needs to go to a gym when you can use these facilities for free?
  • Stonehouse now has a Boules court on the Laburnum Recreation Ground. If you would like to hire the court, please contact the Town Council for details on how to hire it and get the key. Call 01453 822070.
  • Short Mat Bowling Club at the Douglas Morley Hall is open to all interested bowls players. They meet every Tuesday and Friday afternoons between 2pm and 4.30pm. Potential new members of all ages are very welcome to come along and give it a go free of charge for the first two sessions. Equipment will be provided but flat soled shoes must be worn.
