AN 11-YEAR-OLD boy has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car near Thomas Keble School in the small village of Eastcombe.

Emergency services attended the scene on Middle Hill, near Bracelands just before 1pm this afternoon.

The boy suffered injuries to his hand, wrist and leg during the collision involving a blue Ford Fiesta and was treated by paramedics.

The driver, a 50-year-old woman, stayed at the scene to help the young boy.

A police spokesman said his injuries were not believed to be life threatening. No one else was injured in the crash.

The boy was first taken home by his mother, and then later taken to hospital when the ambulance crew arrived.

A police spokesman said: “The incident happened just before 1pm this afternoon.

“The boy suffered injuries to his hand, hand, wrist and leg. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

“Someone at the scene called the ambulance from the boy’s mobile phone.”

Middle Hill was currently closed to traffic, but has now reopened. The road is opposite the playing fields of Thomas Keble.
