PUPILS and staff at Amberley Parochial Primary School celebrated the 125th anniversary of their school library on Wednesday, January 11.

The whole school entered into the spirit of the day by coming to school either dressed as a Victorian or as a character from their favourite book. During the afternoon, the children took part in workshops with a local authors and illustrators, Hannah Shaw, Clive Dale and John Dougherty.

There was singing, storytelling and drawing taking place and a good time was had by all.

Several guests were invited, including past pupils and teachers, to join in the festivities and look through the displays of memorabilia and photographs.

Before the final spectacular of a book signing, the entire school community enjoyed two enormous cakes, in the shape of books, depicting The Gruffalo and Harry Potter, made by a member of staff.

Every member of the school, including staff and Governors were also presented with a book mark to mark the occasion.

The school would like to thank all those that took part, and in particular, Mrs Maureen Collinson, their wonderful school librarian who volunteers tirelessly to support the school, for organising the day.
