FOUR days of essential maintenance work on Dudbridge Lock Bridge will begin Monday, April 10.

Gloucestershire County Council (GCC) are keen to keep the structure in good serviceable condition for future years.

Repairs will involve replacing worn bridge joints that are nearing the end of their life and are no longer stable.

Unfortuntely the repairs will mean traffic diversions and drivers travelling from Dudbridge Hill should continue on A46 Bath Road, then left out of Caincross Road and vice versa.

The council has scheduled the repairs for the school holiday hoping it will ease traffic concerns.

Scott Tompkins, GGC’s lead commissioner for highways, said: “This work is an important part of our duty to residents and businesses in Stroud; it is crucial for this bridge to be well maintained.

“The county council would like to thank drivers for their patience ahead of any short term disruption while this essential work is carried out.”

Residents are advised to check @glosroads on Twitter and local media for updates.
