A VILLAGE primary school is celebrating success in its latest Ofsted report.

Oakridge Parochial School – which has just 42 pupils and two classes and uses the village green for its playground – was given an overall ‘good’ rating, the second highest of four grades, after an inspection in March.

This maintained the grade given to the school at its last inspection in November 2011, and executive head teacher Lisa Austin was delighted with the report.

“We were really thrilled with the outcome and inspection findings reported in the letter to myself,” she said.

“It recognised that our children are keen learners stating, ‘inspection evidence shows that pupils are deeply engaged in learning because it is well matched to their interests and needs. As a result pupils' enthusiasm is ignited’."

She added: “The letter outlined both the dedication of our small staff team and the positive way in which they work with the partner school, Bisley Blue Coat.

“We have a very supportive parent community and we are pleased that this too was highlighted as a strength.

“I am incredibly proud of our unique and very special school community. The real stars are the happy and hardworking pupils.”
