LABOUR candidate David Drew has confirmed to the SNJ that Debbie Hicks 'resigned' as vice-chairman of the Stroud CLP.
Mr Drew said: "Debbie has been suspended by the Labour Party and she has resigned as Vice Chair.
"Her remarks were insensitive and crass and I totally dissociate myself from them."
This is after Ms Hicks said, in a now deleted Facebook post: "I cant help thinking this is wonderful timing for Theresa May"
She went on to apologise for the comments: "My comment this morning about the attack in Manchester was ill-timed and I apologise for any offence caused.
"As I said before and I will say again, all my thoughts are with the families involved in the senseless attack in Manchester."
A Spokesperson for Labour South West said: "Ms Hicks' comments do not represent the beliefs of the Labour Party or the local campaign in Stroud.
"Her views are her own, and have no place in the Labour Party.
As a party our thoughts are with families and friends of those who have died and been injured in Manchester."
