CHILDREN at St Matthews Playgroup in Stroud raised more than £500 from their fundraising cycle ride around Victory Park.

The bike ride which took place on Thursday, July 6 helped raise funds for the playgroup which will go towards maths resources and exciting new toys.

Everyone at the playgroup took part with many children riding bikes and other smaller ones riding scooters.

St Matthew Playgroup assistant Fiona Woodward was really pleased with the commitment of the children and the impressive sum of money raised.

She said: “The children did so well, all of the staff at playgroup are so proud of how well they did.

“It was a very warm day but the children didn't give up and carried on lapping the park! They were all super stars.

“Some of the children manged to do nine laps of the park which is an awful lot for the little legs of three and four year-olds.

“Thank you to all who supported us on the day and also those who continue to support us. We are very lucky to have such wonderful children at playgroup. Well done to everyone who took part.”

Every child who took part in the fundraiser received a medal and certificate to commemorate their achievement.
