Christian Comment with Christine Colby, Methodist Local Preacher

NO ONE is perfect.

Some may think they are perfect but they are not.

If anyone expects perfection in another they will be disappointed.

We are only human and we all will make mistakes.

It is a fact of life.

When we put someone on a pedestal we often expect perfection.

These people can then end up wanting to remain perfect in our eyes and feel that they have to work at hiding who they really are.

Some, though, are honest and open about who they are and they end up far more inspiring and encouraging.

The one I look up to and trust is Jesus Christ.

He is the only one who can be considered perfect.

Yet Jesus is my friend and I do not have to hide who I am from Him.

He knows me and loves me anyway

Jesus loves me enough to help me realise my failures but He also encourages me by helping me to recognise my good qualities.

Jesus is understanding and loving and keeps me going when life is tough.

I can trust Him completely.

Jesus is the one I aspire to be like.

Jesus Christ, the Son of God who loved me so much that He died a terrible death on a cross for me.

He died for my imperfections, the things I have and will do wrong.

As I look to the cross I am reminded of what Jesus did for me.

I am humbled and I ask Him to forgive me.

In this simple act I am set free and enabled to begin again and not be tortured by my failures.

People may hold onto my imperfections, but Jesus forgives me and allows me to move on.

I am not perfect, no one is.

But the one who is perfect, Jesus Christ, accepts me and enables me to be free of others expectations.

Only Jesus is perfect and I choose Him as my hero.

Jesus can be your hero too.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God and He can be trusted.
