A 44-YEAR-OLD Stroud man is behind bars awaiting trial on charges of possessing firearms, including a sawn-off shotgun, and conspiring to supply Class A drugs.

Marin Skarca of Lower Street, Stroud appeared before Cheltenham Magistrates' Court where he was remanded in custody to await trial at Gloucester Crown Court.

He is alleged to have been in possession of a shotgun which had a barrel less than 12 inches in length in Stroud on September 8.

He is also alleged to have conspired with persons unknown to supply a quantity of Class A drugs at Stroud between April 29 and September 9.

Skarca faces a further charge of possessing a firearm – an antique revolver with a barrel less than 12 inches – on the same date.

A fourth charge relates to allegedly being in possession of a firearm – a conductive electrical device.

Finally he is charged with possessing four rounds of .32 ammunition.

He will appear at the Crown Court on October 13.
