A WOMAN has described the moment she was bitten by a dog while walking through woods near Stroud.

The woman was walking through Doverow Woods in Stroud at around 4pm on November 11 when she saw two border collies and two old English sheepdogs, who were walking around without a lead.

As she walked past, one of the sheepdogs bit her on the back of her leg causing a wound.

She spoke to the dog owner but didn’t ask for his details.

"When I saw what the dog had done to my leg I was shocked," said the victim.

"I had a big gaping wound with a deep tooth mark and skin hanging off.

"All I could think of at that point was getting myself to a doctor."

The dog owner is described as a male of medium build and average height.

He wore a black cap and a long, pale, tweedy looking coat. He was white, British and in his 50’s.

The victim has said the wound has caused her a great deal of inconvenience.

"I have had to have the dressing changed on my leg every other day since this happened, she said.

"It has caused a lot of distress and disruption and I will be left with a nasty, unsightly scar.

"I would not want the dog to do the same to a child."
