A NINE-YEAR-OLD girl from Stroud has raised nearly £500 after cutting her hair for charity.

Isla Baldwin-Coles decided to cut off her hair and donate it to the Little Princess Trust, a charity which makes real hair wigs for young children who have lost their hair from cancer treatment.

The money she raised will go to two of her favourite charities, the RSPCA and Shelter.

Isla, whose hair was extremely long, had her hair cut at Summerbees in Stroud on Saturday morning and she was both nervous and excited but loved the end result.

“I love my new haircut and I’m really happy that she was able to help charities supporting animals, children and homeless people," said Isla.

Isla’s father Jamie Baldwin was extremely proud of his daughter but also delighted she had finally got her hair cut.

“Her hair had got exceptionally long,” said Jamie.

“Anytime she went in the water it would come out in a tangled mess.

“I’m very pleased she finally had her hair cut but also proud because she is raising money for three excellent causes.”

Isla’s fundraising achievement was announced during assembly at Stroud Valley Primary School and her classmates and teachers gave her a warm round of applause.
