A CHALFORD resident has been declared Ms Galaxy Ireland, 2018.

Laura Entwistle, who has been a national finalist of Miss Universe GB, took part in the prestigious competition in October after reaching the finals of the competition.

The contest, which has five categories ranging from Miss Galaxy Ireland for ages 19-29, to Ms Galaxy Ireland for ages of 30 plus, is a prestigious international pageant with the finals held in Florida.

Laura has been competing in beauty pageants for several years, and the Ms Galaxy Ireland win is a significant accolade, especially as her family comes from Ireland.

Laura said: “This pageant has been the one I set my heart on years ago, but I didn't think I was ready until this year, so it means everything to me.”

“It was amazing for my mum and dad to be there to watch me win, and I know the rest of my Irish family would be extremely proud.”

A full-time technology consultant, as the winner of the pageant, Laura will be making the time to travel to Orlando, Florida next July to compete in the International competitions, and she is planning to put her new beauty title to good use.

Laura said: “I do a lot of volunteering work based on empowering women in technology, as well as being a school governor and a volunteer for underprivileged youths in London.”

“I’m planning on doing a lot more with my title.”

Laura plans on continuing her beauty pageant career and entering further competitions in the future.
