Nailsworth & District Flower Arrangement Society with Coral Gardiner

OUR first meeting of the New Year which was poorly attended due to the inclement weather turned out to be most enjoyable.

Coral Gardiner a farmer’s wife and accomplished national flower arranger had stepped in for our scheduled arranger who was unfortunately ill.

Coral’s first design was, an all-round arrangement of pink roses, carnations and lizianthus suitable for a coffee table.

Her second arrangement depicting a “Winter Garden” was a stunning design with Mahonia, and Formium leaves, off-set by some beautiful old fashioned yellow roses and unusual burgundy coloured carnations.

For her third design Coral made an upright arrangement of red carnations hyacinths and alliums on a piece of driftwood which she suggested would look stunning on a Church Pillar.

Spring was the theme for her next design of potted polyanthus complimented by an arrangement of mini daffodils, narcissi and hyacinths in a box made from silver birch.

For her finale Coral made a traditional design in an Urn filled with white lizianthus anthiriums, chrysanthemums and white lilies.

Throughout her demonstration Coral kept the audience amused with her stories and dry sense of humour.

A truly great evening was had by all.

Tickets are selling fast for our Open Day at Sibly Hall Wycliffe College on Wednesday, March 28, when our morning speaker will be Katherine Kear of Radio Gloucester and in the afternoon Johnathan Moseley National Demonstrator who appears on the BBC Allotments programme will take the stage.
