MADAM – I am writing to draw attention to the fact that we have not had two lifts working in Stroud since before Christmas, only one – which leads to over-loading in the precinct and a dreary impression.

Why can’t we have two working lifts in the shopping precinct?

It gives the downbeat feeling that Stroud is a one horse town.

The approach to the lifts and toilets needs painting and the walls decorated with posters or painting reproductions to lift the mood of the shoppers and music in the lifts would be desirable.

Why not?

Does the approach have to be so grey and muddy and depressing?

It would not cost much to improve the feel of the place.

The ladies toilet could do with colour and care.

Having liquid soap available and paper towels and painting the doors a strong happy colour, say a blue shade, would be lovely.

We have a lot of tourists in town some days.

Many visiting from abroad or even diverse parts of the UK, Wales or Somerset or even Japan or China. Let’s greet them with smiles and a good approach to our lovely little town.
