MADAM - Every member of Gloucestershire County Council’s highways department should be required to drive, at night, into Minchinhampton on the Cirencester Road from the cattle grid near the Ragged Cot repeatedly until such time as they realise that the headlights from oncoming traffic render the traffic calming obstruction in the road invisible.
I have no objection to traffic calming in principle and I’m sure local residents are grateful for it on this straight stretch of road.
However, it needs to be clearly visible and safe in all common conditions, including after dark.
A potentially hazardous situation is not improved by installing a hazard.
As chicanery goes, this one is not fit for purpose.
