MADAM – Does Neil Carmichael really believe that the statistics he parrots (SNJ June 4) amount to ‘prosperity’? How many of the jobs created, that he seems so proud of, are secure, full-time or paying the living wage?

Has he spoken to any of the 58 per cent of NHS staff who have had a 1 per cent (below-inflation) pay rise, recommended by an independent pay review, rejected?

Do those who work to keep us healthy not deserve to share in any ‘prosperity’?

Why are they, along with the most vulnerable in society, forced to pay for the prosperity of the few?

Does our MP not realise that the manufacturing sector he trumpets was largely destroyed by his party under Mrs Thatcher?

That the original double-track railway line to Kemble, along with much of our precious railway infrastructure, was destroyed after his party’s Dr Beeching cuts?

Why are the very rich not being made to pay for the mess their greed has created?

How long before the majority rise against Neil Carmichael’s party’s policy of reserving prosperity for their supporters?
