MADAM – I wonder if you can help to solve a mystery?
After the sudden, sad death of my brother Robert Tiley, I was given some old photographs that he had stored in his attic.
Many were from our parents’ day way back the 1920s.
I have come upon this one.
The original is brown with age but my husband has managed to restore the quality on his computer.
Do you have any idea when or where this could have been taken?
My mother and father were both born and raised in the Stroud area.
They obviously took part in many of the social and “young persons” activities.
We think the round object, seen at the top of the picture, may be a lamppost?
My mother is standing right beneath it.
Her name then was Ellie Broomhall.
What do you think the “thumbs up” was all about?
I’m sure someone will know.
I would be most interested to find out.
