MADAM – Can I thank the two people who stopped after I’d been assaulted last year.
The assault had taken place behind Bownham Park and the pair helped me both at the time and by appearing as prosecution witnesses in the subsequent trial last month.
I only know their names – Liam Carre and James Butcher.
They helped find my glasses and my less than faithful dog who had zipped off in the mêlée.
They then saw the article in your paper about the assault and came forward as witnesses.
They gave up a whole day’s work to appear at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court and their testimony was crucial, not least because they had encountered the driver, who had assaulted me, speeding towards them a few seconds earlier.
I’m extremely grateful to them.
