ON the plans for a new £8 million redevelopment of the Cornhill in Stroud to include a supermarket at the nearby Market Tavern pub.

Why does a small town need more than 5 supermarkets when I lived in a city we didn't have that meny. Can't this space be used in a more productive way. You all moan about the youth being on on the streets causing problems ect it was the same when I was one of those youths there isn't much out there for them to do they are too younger to be in a pub and too old to be in a part or use the space as an open space for the town users to use. Just not a supermarket or and even better plan turn it into primark lol!

The last thing Stroud needs is another supermarket. Anyone who thanks that it will not harm the Town Centre traders is deluding themselves. This would be direct competition that could cut its prices for a while to finish off the vulnerable businesses in town and then once the competition has gone back up go the prices.

Whilst I hate to see plans for yet another supermarket, having it in the town centre and using existing parking space is far more preferable than the proposed out of town ones which will only mean less footfall in the town centre and more traffic clogging our tiny roads.
