MADAM – Your comment on recent planning decisions and conclusions fails to address the root cause of the problem and could misinform readers.
All around Stroud, greedy developers are urgently applying and appealing decisions in order to build extensively on unsuitable but profitable greenfield sites and in every case using the absence of a five-year plan as the reason they should be allowed.
Who is it that you suggest thinks the lack of a legal plan is not a factor? And why have we not got a plan?
I sat through the hearing at Ebley Mill for several days and my confidence in SDC was shattered.
Petty party politics has played a part and despite having adequate permissions in place, the plan is still not legal and so wealthy developers are making hay while the sun shines.
The SNJ should be digging deeper into this and not just complaining about the results.
Once the plan is in place we might finally start to see development agreed years ago starting and end this glut of fresh applications.
