MADAM - Ode to the Countryside
Our rolling hills so green and fair, stretch before us in the air.
Hamlets, villages, cities too, house and keep us all a new.
Life is tranquil, life is sweet, nothing sweeps us off our feet.
Seasons come and seasons go, children playing in the snow.
Welcoming the harvest home; conkers falling off the trees.
Stockings hung by chimneys tall; the festive season beckons all.
Church bells ring so loud and clear, to welcome in a bright “New Year”.
