ON MP Neil Carmichael’s decision to will vote for air strikes against the Islamic State in Iraq when Parliament was recalled.

Posted by Crow: If there are real targets that would be worth striking I could agree that it might be worth it. But if they are just going to target unimportant sites then they could just bolster their morale by just showing how strong their position is and reinforcing their faith in their struggle. The west is up against the Islamic ‘big society’......not the big society Cameron had in mind.

On the decision by Sainsbury’s to slash up to 5p a litre off the cost of its petrol and diesel.

Posted by Andyinstroud: Maybe the good councillors of Stroud will allow the planning application for a supermarket and petrol station submitted by Asda. That way we really would benefit from lower fuel prices in a rural area and break the cartel that exists in the district.

On the death of Richard ‘Dolly’ Watson of Nupend, Stonehouse.

Posted by David James Poole: Now living in the Canaries I have only just heard of Dolly’s passing. Although I have not seen much of Dolly for the last 20 years, we were in the same class at school, we were in the same apprentice intake at Hoffmann Bearings/RHP and we both lived in or near Stonehouse most of our lives. My memories of Dolly are of a character I admired. He was strong, fit, enthusiastic, and fun. One of the brightest stars in my sky.

On the outcome of the Scottish referendum.

Posted by Phyllus Jones: Now that Scotland has had its say on independence, when do the British people as a whole have their say on UK independence?

Is the UK to be integrated ever deeper as a province of the new EU federal country, or is the UK to return to being an independent self-governing country? When are we Brits going to get our vote on independence? The Scottish vote is over - where’s the British vote?
