MADAM – Some while ago, I wrote regarding the state and plight of our community nurses, how they have been so unjustly treated.

Asked to do so much more to make up for the continual loss of colleagues who have departed, unable to stand the stresses caused by blind doctrine from on high.

The final straw being the imposition of shift working, without any consideration for its effect on those forced to accept it.

I write again, because I have just seen the most amazing advert.

A huge banner across Merrywalks foot bridge, for any willing nurses to attend a recruitment day for community nurses.

When has anybody ever seen a recruitment drive advertised for nurses?

It’s unbelievable.

Desperation.

The only reason this is happening (and not just here but in Cirencester and other local areas) is because of the disastrous policies being meted out to our nurses.

And now those responsible, our health trusts and others dictating to them, have their answer.

If you treat people as if they are just pawns, to be moved around and abused at will, then what you sow is what you reap.

Single-handedly, those responsible for policy have managed to decimate our community nurses and at a time when the absolute requirement is for care in the community to prevent hospital overcrowding.

And what about the millions of pounds spent in training those nurses, only for it to be utterly wasted?

Years of experience just thrown on to the scrap heap.

Why has management not asked itself “why are all the community nurses leaving?” and had a serious review to correct the situation.

Is there anyone competent out there to see the blindingly obvious.

No?

Never mind, we’ll just career on.

Nurses, patients?

Who are they?
