MADAM - I wholeheartedly support the comments made in the letter by Lee Prescott regarding the rat-run through little Australia streets.

Drivers from the industrial estate at Oldends regularly use this route as an escape to avoid the queues waiting to enter the Gloucester Road junction to head for the B4008.

Entry and exit to my driveway in Canberra during the so called rush hour times has become extremely hazardous to say the least.

I have thought long and hard how to solve this problem and can only come up with one solution without affecting residents or the need for policing.

Remove the mini roundabout at the junction of Oldends Lane and Brunel Way (entrance/exit from the industrial estate) and erect a no left turn sign, this would funnel traffic back past Dairy Crest and onto the A419 where access to the M5 is easy.

A further no left turn sign would also be needed at the other end of Brunel way to stop motorist from the left turn again the other side of the Dairy Crest entrance.

Both of the left turn signs could of course have time restrictions added to restrict the left turn to coincide with the rush hour traffic.

I can assure Mr Prescott that I will also be remembering the ‘ignorance about this subject’ when local election time resumes.
