MADAM – Do the council want people to park and shop in Stroud?
I shop regularly in Stroud, and find the Merrywalks multi-storey car park convenient for parking, but I’m getting fed-p that every time I go to the meter to pay when leaving, there is always a problem.
One week it said to pay with 20ps; the next time it said it wouldn’t accept 20ps; today, it wouldn’t take any coins – a lady in the queue said “You will have to get your card out, it won’t take any money.”
Who wants to use a debit card for a 60p parking fee?
A gentleman said the top machine wasn’t working either, so I had to go down to the bottom meter, park up and go to this one to pay, along with several other people, who were also fed-up with the meters there.
What’s going on, can’t the council get the meters fixed?
This isn’t just a one-off problem.
