MADAM – I am surely not the only reader who was slightly confused by Caroline Stephen’s recent letter describing UKIP’s policy of not signing pledges.
This policy apparently is “We don’t sign pledges as we don’t want people to know UKIP’s position on whatever the pledge happens to be”.
This makes it a bit difficult for us voters to work out UKIP’s views.
So please can someone from UKIP answer the following questions via this letters page so we, as voters, can make an informed and sensible decision between the candidates in the forthcoming election.
1. Do you believe that climate change is real?
If yes: 2. Do you believe that climate change is totally caused by human activity, totally caused by natural climatic and weather patterns or a mixture of the two?
If you believe that human activity is involved 3. Do you believe that we should take steps to mitigate this climate change?
I apologise for putting UKIP on the spot here on one particular issue, but I feel the confusion surrounding this does not help the voters in this constituency or indeed UKIP.
