ON the decision by Eric Pickles to approve plans for the Javelin Park incinerator.

Posted by Bonkim: Mr Pickles has made a valid decision, now make it work in the public arena. The county planning committee was bonkers rejecting the planning application - all worried about their county seats.

The agony and indecision has ended - thank you Mr Pickles.

Energy from waste - the most cost and environmentally effective way to deal with residual waste. County and district/city councils - time to review your wasteful multi-bin collections that cost taxpayers an arm and a leg and bring back weekly single bin collections to save money and carbon footprint.

On the death of former Archway School headteacher Robin Lunn.

Posted by Liz Howes: I remember Mr Lunn (sir) with fondness. He was an excellent head, very fair and had a lot of respect. He was a gentleman. Condolences to his family I hope he rests in peace.

Posted by Juliet Oosthuysen: Robin Lunn was a marvellous head who cared deeply for the school, his staff and pupils.

My father taught at the school and my siblings and I attended.

On one memorable day, six of our family were there as my sister did teaching training, my other sister and I were pupils, my younger brother was coming for a visit from primary and my mother was teaching as a supply teacher.

How he laughed that he was being overrun by us all...he found it fantastic and I remember feeling that he’d created an environment where, quite simply, we all wanted to be. Sending lots of love to Jill and their daughters- he made an impact on us all.

Posted by Tina Hemming: I liked him, he was a great head when I joined the school in 1981-1986. Thoughts with the family.

Posted by Linda Hill: So sad to hear this, a firm but fair head and a lovely man. Thoughts with family at this sad time.
