MADAM – We have had to grow used to the MP for Stroud being loose with the facts in his weekly column.

However, his The MP for Stroud’s attempt to portray the alternative report that Gloucestershire Countŷ Council produced as coming down in favour of energy from waste at Javelin Park is beyond the pale.

What the report concluded, with all-party support, was that Mechanical, Biological Treatment was a more-appropriate process.

To present it as otherwise is an unbelievable distortion of the facts.

I am afraid that the carbuncle of the incinerator is as much his legacy as that of secretary of state Eric Pickles.

Is it too much to ask that he gets the facts straight, if not to ask for an apology for this monstrous imposition upon the people of Stroud?

Even at this late stage, he could intercede to demand that the better process of MBT is pursued.

This not only has been the preferred process that many of us in GlosVain have championed, but makes much more economic sense.

Will he do this for the people of the Stroud district, or will he just do the government and Tory Party’s bidding?
