ON the theft of brassware from St Peter’s Church in Framilode, Posted by Phyllus Jones: Welcome to modern Britain. The theft of such precious icons for a few extra pounds in a druggie’s pocket says it all. Even if caught, all that awaits the person is a tiny slap on the wrist. A very sad reflection on our current society.

On SDC’s call for a fresh report into alternatives to the Javelin Park incinerator.

Posted by tomttom: It is fantastic to see a cross party group looking to properly serve the community, and deliver one of the much better (and cheaper) solutions available. Thank you all. How many at the county still support the ugly, outdated, hugely damaging and costly line promoted by Mark Hawthorne. Please GCC guys, listen to your local electorate, we do deserve you to work in our interests. A huge incinerator that gets most of its energy from burning recyclable plastics, then throws 80 per cent of the power away is much discredited and outdated technology that does huge harm .. all for £500M of our money.

On the Christian Comment by the Rev Alisdair Longwill of the West of England Baptist Association Posted by Adrian George: All deaths are meaningful and will be mourned by those closest to them, be they White, Black, Indian, Jew, Christian, Islamist, Buddhist or whatever. The only difference between Paris and Baga is the proximity to the west. I have close friends and relatives who I will mourn deeply upon their passing, yet others have become more distant over time and upon their death my grief will be less. Our closeness and proximity reflects the extent of our loss.
