MADAM – In response to Chas Townley. I enjoyed your article in this week’s SNJ and share your concerns about “workers’ accidents on roads” going unrecorded.
You are probably unaware that operatives working for a major local company appear to have unrestricted private use of the company vans, including home-to-work travel.
It is also noticeable that operatives of sub-contractors to the firm also appear to enjoy similar benefits.
What I find most alarming is that these workers, if they were unfortunate enough to be involved in a road accident, may not be covered by insurance for “out of working hours, and private use”.
I have contacted the company, expressing my concerns, but to date have received no reply.
