MADAM – At long last the green light has been given for the construction of the much-awaited incinerator, a moment in time you are well aware of, having devoted the first three pages of your paper to the anguished cries of the protesters.
The hot air of their arguments will no doubt have added considerably to global warming.
To touch on a few points in question, ‘GLOSVain’ talks of the incinerator being a blot on the landscape while conveniently ignoring solar panel farms.
The Greens claim the carbon emissions will exceed those from coal-fired power stations. Somehow, I doubt that.
Ecotricity’s screams are hypocritical while it enjoys the benefits of the green tax levy, and since when have the Lib Dems been shy of burdening the taxpayer with a billion-pound liability?
Ukip balances neatly on the fence, and our incumbent MP clearly has his eye on the coming general election.
So come on Urbaser Balfour Beatty (UBB) start breaking ground and get this much-needed facility built and within 18 months no one will know it’s there.
