MADAM – What a load of old cobblers I heard on the radio recently, someone saying you cannot drive up a hill at less than 20 mph.

If they cannot do that then they should not be driving as they are obviously not in charge of their vehicle.

They also said on the radio there are 20 mph signs on main roads in Stroud. Well, I wish to point out that there are no main roads in Stroud. All there is, is a bus station called the A46 while the only other A road – the A419 – bypasses the town. All the rest are B roads or narrow streets.

Instead of organising a petition to get the system changed, the organiser should be petitioning the authorities to monitor and police the local area, as it is extremely dangerous to drive at higher speeds along these roads.

The people who want to drive faster are only thinking of themselves and not other road users, pedestrians and mothers with children. Merrywalks and Folly Lane have been like a race track in recent years.

Well done Sarah Lunnon for instigating the new arrangements.
