MADAM – I would like to register my support for the opinions of Gerry Moutrey (SNJ, February 4, 2015).

Being a member of the not-so-silent majority in favour of the proposed incinerator, his letter I felt was well-balanced and not given to the emotional claims of its opponents – infant mortality and global destruction, to name but two.

Further, his comment of your biased stance on this subject is confirmed by your note of reply: to have an opinion is one thing, but to nail your colours to the mast is to put your self in a corner and if your ship goes down, you go down with it.

So please, just run your colours up the mast: this will give you room to manoeuvre in any other future skirmish, and you may in time warm to the benefits of the proposed facility.
