MADAM – I had not been looking forward to the forthcoming local and general elections. All the parties seem to be offering either a continuation and acceleration of austerity (Tories, Labour, Lib Dems, Ukip) or vague unconvincing promises (Greens).
I was delighted to discover recently that a new group will be standing in the forthcoming elections in our area. TUSC (Trade Union and Socialist Coalition) has brought together groups and individuals who represent ordinary working people and not the millionaires.
It is committed to fighting the austerity policies of the establishment parties. TUSC stands for policies including; l Reversing the privatisation of public services, l A fully funded health service, l A £10 minimum wage, l Public ownership of major corporations including the energy companies and public transport At last there is an alternative representing the needs and aspirations of ordinary working people, rather than the interests of big business and the establishment.
