MADAM – Just a minor point of correction on the heading under the picture of me in the letter section of February 18 next to Ray Relph’s letter of support.
I have never said it’s “impossible” to drive at 20mph, it is just very hard not to inadvertently exceed it when accelerating up a steep incline in a safe and consistent driving manner. I think it’s important to point this out, as my objection to the scheme isn’t about wanting to drive fast, it’s about being able to drive in the afore mentioned safe and consistent manner suited to the surrounding area.
I was interested to see over the last couple of days that there are calls from councillors in Bristol to revoke some of their 20mph areas after less than six months in force where they’ve been implemented in areas, which makes no sense.
This is exactly my point here.
I am not against the scheme, it’s just so inconsistent across the Stroud District and doesn’t apply where it would make sense, and equally is in force in areas where it simply beggars belief.
Following your coverage, I am still awaiting acknowledgement from Jason Humm at AMEY (Gloucestershire Highways) for the petition link I sent him on February 5, as he was not aware of it and I’m being hit with a wall of silence from AMEY with regards to sending me a copy of the consultation report and surveys that I’m assuming were carried out with due diligence prior to the schemes implementation.
May thanks again for your coverage of what is both an emotive and polarising issue.
