ON our April Fool about plans to build a replica of The Shard on the site of Tricorn House.

Posted by James ‘Slim’ Moth: I wish this wasn’t an April Fool. To be honest though it just needs knocking down and turning into a patch of grass, don’t need anything there, just get rid of the eyesore at least.

Posted by Veronica Wehrle: Just for a moment I wished it was true. Though 87 storeys just too high, anything-well just about anything would be a vast improvement.

Posted by heane123: Why not replace with a green space to complement the excellent site that is the Cainscross roundabout.

On Don’t Strangle Stroud’s views on Stroud District Council’s Local Plan.

Posted by jaytee8937: Again the blatant nimbies get space to pedal their selfish message. The main movers are purely trying to maintain their house values while masquerading behind jargon and alarmism. The core strategy was thrown out first time round due to lack of numbers so SDC inserted a site that had been identified previously to augment the numbers to comply. No criticism has been levelled at any other site in the plan by them. Sharpness is undeliverable and Cam has serious infrastructure problems. The allocation at Hunts Grove will not be delivered in this plan period.

Posted by steve1234: The real nimbies are those who say their area is too beautiful so can’t have any development and therefore want to chuck everything in Stonehouse.

Westington would merely be a commuter town for Bristol etc and would contribute nothing to the local area, as well as having little public transport, hardly sustainable. Why not spread sites around the district eg every parish has to increase its houses by five per cent.

Posted by jaytee8937: Good idea but little or no planning gain for SDC. No section 106 agreements to improve roads etc. courtesy of developers.

What type of houses would be built in Painswick?
