JOHN Hall (Letters, March 18) mentions the horrendous road surfaces in Westward Road and Cashes Green in Stroud and along the A46.
But at least all those locations have a pavement.
Here in Butterrow, our main-road hill has no pavement, and we have to take cover as cars swerve from side to side to avoid our own monster potholes.
These have been filled in several times over the past years, so the whole hill (like everywhere else) is a mass of old patches and holes.
Repairs to this ragged surface don’t last – a mix of porridge and raw egg might have longer life stickability than some of the tarmac.
Maybe this is the promise of Gloucestershire County Council’s contractor Amey – ‘Another Mend Every Year’.
