IT WOULD appear that it takes very little to get Councillor Simon Pickering excited if the R4C (integrated waste resource recovery, recycling and refining process) dream is anything to go by.
This is a dream peddled by the persuasive claims of Tom Jarman of Advanced Recycling Technology (ART) which sadly encourages him to wander off into the never-never land of rainbow dreams with the battle cry of “It will be all right on the night.”
Should we all follow? I think not.
If I may quote Peter Jones of Gloucestershire County Council (Mr Jarman’s claims are completely unfounded) which I feel is nearer the truth.Ninety-five per cent reclamation is the claim made forby R4C.
But with a little probing, I find a 95 per cent reclamation claim made by an obscure South Australian recycling company called ART which claims to recycle 93-95 per cent of electronic and electrical products – but that’s not what I put in my refuse bag.
I must admit the name and the claim are very similar perhaps that’s what confused Councillor Pickering into thinking he has found the holy grail of waste disposal.
Think again councillor.
