BLISSFUL driving in Devon and Cornwall.

My husband and I recently spent a relaxing few days exploring the highways and byways of Devon and Cornwall.

It was pure bliss to be able to drive safely without the potentially dangerous expedient of constantly scanning the road surface ahead for potholes.

When we returned into Gloucestershire, the perilous state of the roads was an immediate contrast.

We always warn our visitors to expect a ‘bumpy ride’ when they visit.

In fact, we are now considering leaving the county we have always loved – not simply because of the potholes per se but because of the feelings engendered to us by Gloucestershire County Council’s apparent contempt for the safety of our beings/property.

We wonder what is the true scale of accidents caused by pothole mishaps or avoidance.

The consequences of Gloucestershire County Council’s woeful inaction will never really be ascertained.

If any MP could assist in sorting out this road situation, then they would be worth their weight in asphalt.
