On a Stroud mother’s fury that the school her 18-year-old son attends had organised a question and answer session for students with Stroud’s parliamentary candidates.

Posted by Claire E.H: This woman needs to back down. It’s great that these young adults are able to put questions directly to those that want to represent them, in order to help make an informed decision on who to vote for. This woman should be ashamed of herself. Your son is 18, an adult in the eyes of the law, quit acting like he’s eight years old. Talk about an embarrassment.

Posted by JillontheHill: Is this woman for real? Her son is 18, taking his place in the world, he’s intelligent and able to form his own opinions – let him listen to what the candidates have to say and make up his own mind. Isn’t this what democracy is all about?

On Stroud District Council’s decision to approve plans for a supermarket at the Dudbridge Industrial Estate in Stroud. Lidl is in talks with the owner of the site.

Posted by da20896: Councillors to be applauded for a brave decision which is also going to benefit the locality. Stroud Metal company now has a viable future in Stonehouse and Stroud gains a smaller supermarket in Lidl which will meet a need and also provide competition with the established supermarkets. The site should also provide sites for some other medium size retail outlets.

It will not increase footfall in the town centre, but Stroud needs to generate this.

I suggest that the Cornhill market place should have more investment and be opened for markets either full time or five days a week with more full time pitches and let the Farmers Market spill out on Saturdays through all of Cornhill.
